To celebrate the return of the Olympic Games to North America, the Royal Canadian Mint issued this Series II silver kilo honoring the host country.

The design is a montage of iconic images of the history of Canada, and is struck in spectacular proof condition.

Each coin weighs 2.2 pounds (1,000 grams, one Troy kilo) of 99.99% silver.

With only 2,500 minted, this 2008 silver kilo is 8 times more scarce than the silver kilos issued to commemorate the 2008 Beijing Olympic Summer Games.  With the Series I silver kilo sold out and already selling for  as much as $4,495 in the aftermarket, the few remaining Series II silver kilos are sure to disappear fast!

Each coin is graded Proof 69 Ultra Cameo by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, and housed in a special sonically sealed holder with a commemorative label.
