The collection includes a 15th century one tenth fanam or 1 Bele which is the smallest minted gold coin in history to ever circulate. This coin was virtually unknown until the discovery of this fantastic hoard. You also get a 3 Gold Fanams from three different eras; the first being from South India struck from 1638-1659 and was used to pay workers during the Taj Mahal construction. The second Fanam struck from 1700-1784 was used as payment for loading and unloading ships from the Dutch East India Company. The third Fanam is from Tipu Sultan (1782-1799).
