2008 Royal Shield of Arms Seven-Coin Set
The seven coins form a shield with England represented in two quadrants by three lions. Scotland is symbolized by a rampant lion and Ireland's symbol is the harp. The 2008 Royal Shield design was chosen from the over 4,000 submitted in a public competition. Matthew Dent, the winner, used the Royal Shield of Arms on the reverse and split the image among six of the coins. The entire shield is displayed on the 1 pound coin. Includes a 1 pound, 50p, 20p, 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p coin.
