Bhutan Coin Collection The Ngultrum - The obverse features the “Wheel of Law or Wheel of Teachings.” The eight spokes in the wheel symbolize the noble eightfold path of Buddhism and is said to cut through ignorance. The reverse illustrates the “Ashtamangala” or Eight Auspicious Symbols: a conch, knot, fish, banner, lotus, parasol, urn and wheel. The knot is the inter-twining of a long life and compassion. The banner represents the victory over negative obstacles of one’s body, mind and language. The lotus flower symbolizes purity. The parasol represents protection against all evil and the Urn of Wisdom signifies longevity and prosperity.

The 25 Chhertum - The obverse shows two goldfish, symbolizing freedom and happiness. The reverse has the Bhutan Royal Crest.

The 10 Chhertum - The obverse depicts a conch shell, representing the voice of Buddha dharma. The reverse is the same as the Ngultrum.

The 5 Chhertum - The obverse and reverse feature symbols within a circle.
