Canada’s 1972 Silver Dollar saw a face-lift of sorts for Queen Elizabeth II. To honor the 20th anniversary of Elizabeth’s ascension to the throne, the coin’s obverse design, which depicted the “Mature Head” version of the Queen, was re-engraved to show more detail. The re-engraved reverse featured the traditional “voyageur” design depicting an Indian and a voyageur in a canoe.
