Own a Genuine Artifact of World War II

Silver Certificate When American GIS first hit the beaches of North Africa in 1942, they brought with them specially printed U.S. silver certificates. The 1935 Series $1 “Yellow Seal” Silver Certificates were one of three silver certificate denominations issued in Europe during World War II for use by American GIs. Originally issued in 1942 during Operation Torch in North Africa, these notes went on to serve America’s fighting forces when the Allies invaded Italy in 1943. The notes were issued in $1, $5 and $10 denominations, each printed with a distinctive “Yellow Seal” instead of the customary Blue Seal normally used. The reason for this was to guarantee that if large numbers of these notes fell into enemy hands, the Americans could deem them “invalid.” These notes stayed in use throughout Italy up to September 1, 1945, by which time the war in Europe was over and the fighting in the Pacific Theater was all but finished. At that time, the notes were withdrawn and were declared illegal to own.

Now you can own an authentic piece of World War II history with this genuine North African Liberation Note. Each is in Circulated condition, which means it could have been carried in the pack of an American GI as he fought his way across North Africa, Sicily and Italy.
